Three Steps on How to Shave Your Face

Whilst you’ll never beat a wet shave from a Barber, should you be in need of a quick shave each day, then these are the tips for you:

1. Preparation

Before you tackle shaving your face, you need to wash it. This clears the skin and hair of excess oil, grease, dirt and debris—all stuff that might otherwise get trapped in your razor or irritate your skin.

To minimize nicks, cuts, and irritation while shaving, it is important to hydrate the skin. A great time to shave is right after a shower. Hydrating softens your hair, allowing the razor to glide more easily across the surface.

You can apply a Wahl Foaming Shave Gel or Wahl Pre-Shave Oil and apply it all over your beard or stubble to help hydrate hairs, improve razor glide, and help protect against irritation.

2. Shaving

Once preparation is complete, you can begin the shave. This bring on the question – with or against the grain? The answer is both! Facial hair grows in numerous directions. In order to achieve a clean, smooth shave you will need to shave both with and against the grain at different times in your routine. This is an important step to help prevent razor bumps and burns. Ultimately, shave in the direction that feels most comfortable.

Remember, don’t over-shave the same spot as this can cause irritation. Rinse your blades often to ensure hygienic use. In addition, make sure you change your blade or throw away disposable razors after 5 to 7 shaves to minimize irritation.

If a manual razor is what you are after, try Wahl Cartridge Razor for an effortlessly close shave – the razor will also look ever so classic in any bathroom.

3. After Care

It is important to take care of your skin after shaving. You can do so by applying Wahl 5 Star Moisturiser or Wahl 5 Star Bay Rum Aftershave Lotion. Simply rinse your face with cool water and gently pat it dry. Rub in a hydrating aftershave lotion to help your skin feel soft, hydrated and comfortable.

Between shaves, make sure your razor dries completely to prevent bacteria from growing on it. Do not leave your razor in the shower or on a wet sink.
