How To Get A Close Shave With an Electric Shaver

The great thing about using an electric shaver is that you’re less likely to irritate or cut your skin than using a manual razor. If you decide to switch from a manual razor to an electric shaver or are switching your facial hair style to a clean shave look for the first time in a while, make sure you check out our tips below for achieving a smooth and close shave.

As with using any hair removal device, you should ensure you look after your skin to achieve the best results. It may take a few shaves for your skin and hair to adjust to your new grooming routine, so make sure you give it some time.

Preparing for a close shave

Before you pick up your electric shaver, you should prepare your skin and hair. If you have any beard hair, trim this first using a beard trimmer.  Or you can use the integrated precision trimmer built into the Wahl Lifeproof Wet/Dry Shaver. Using a shaver on hair that’s too long can be uncomfortable and you may experience pulling. For the best performance, ensure that your Wahl electric shaver is fully charged. The Lifeproof Shaver has Lithium Ion Technology that delivers an impressive 90 minutes of cordless run time from a full charge of 60 minutes, giving you up to 1 month’s use on a single charge.

Remember, the Lifeproof Shaver can be used for wet or dry shaving, so it’s up to you whether you prefer for your face to be wet or dry.

How to hold your electric shaver

The Lifeproof Shaver features a non-slip rubber grip that makes it comfortable for you to hold whilst shaving at an angle. Use one hand to hold the shaver to your face at a right-angle and use the other hand to pull the skin taught.  Guide the dual foil heads gently back and forth, primarily against the grain of the beard. Do not press too hard against your face as this may damage the foils and cause irritation. With the dual floating head system on the Lifeproof Shaver, the flex foils adjust to the contours of the face. This makes it easier for you to achieve a comfortable and close shave. If you are new to this shaving technique, it’s best to start on the easiest part of the face first, usually the smooth portion of the face below the ear.

Maintain your electric shaver for best results

Keep your shaver in the best condition by cleaning it after each use. This is an added benefit of having a fully waterproof shaver, as it makes it easier to clean. The Lifeproof Shaver also comes with a foil guard to keep your shaver protected when not in use. To prolong the life of the foil and cutters, apply blade oil after each use.

For optimal performance, we recommend that you replace the foil head and cutter bars every 12 months. Replace immediately if foils are damaged. Replacements can be easily found and purchased for your Lifeproof Shaver here.
