We have an interesting opportunity for a professional, experienced Compliance Manager to oversee our Technical department.  Based at our UK Head Office in Sterling House, Manston, Kent, this is an on-site role managing a team of 3.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will have a background in compliance and quality control.  You will be responsible for leading & motivating your team, identifying & improving processes, and have a customer focussed mindset.

The successful candidate will be an excellent team player with an awareness of electronic safety standards, regulations and business obligations.  This is a challenging role and requires someone who is process driven with a continuous improvement mindset.

Skills and Experience

  • Background in compliance.
  • Understanding of safety data sheets.
  • Ability to undertake technical analysis on small domestic appliances.
  • Quality control processes.
  • Ability to gather, report and analyse data.
  • Awareness of regulations including CE Marking, EM Compatibility, WEEE, etc.
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Communication and collaboration skills.
  •  Strong attention to detail.
  •  Computer literate – competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical & logical approach to problem solving.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work with and challenge, internal and external business hierarchies.

Key Responsibilities and tasks will include:

  • Provide a first point of contact for all safety and conformity technical issues.
  • Safety and compliance of all stock items in accordance with regulatory bodies.
  • Draft, maintain and release all Electrical Safety and Technical documents including working and testing procedures.
  • Ensure the UK business remains compliant with all regulatory and industry changes.
  • Complete & assist with industry electrical safety audits (PAT etc.).
  • Responsible for ‘SGS’ inspection of Third-Party (PFG) products.
  • Responsible for AQL requirement specifications for Third-Party Products.
  • Conduct structured investigations into electrical incidents & non-conformities.
  • Analyse data and provide performance reports to Senior Managers and Group as requested.
  • Identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage and coach the Service & Technical team to delivery business goals.
  • Work with all business functions to establish efficient policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external assessment bodies on all matters relating to compliance, certification & accreditation.
  • Report to senior management on the performance of systems within technical and service remit and make suitable recommendations for its on-going improvement, including root cause analysis & remedial actions.
  • Identify system efficiency improvements and cost saving opportunities cross the entire business.
  • Participate as an active member of the Technical Management Team
  • Maintain the company internal audit schedule to identify and resolve opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain the company calibration records and ensure equipment is correctly calibrated or replaced.
  • Provide technical knowledge and guidance, both internally to all departments and externally to customers.
  • Deliver prompt and effective review and approval of design documentation.
  • Ensure testing standards are applied to the global standard and identify scope for improvement across the organisation.
  • Ensure safety and quality issues are reported at a Global level utilising the appropriate internal systems.
  • Promote the management system principles throughout the business.
  • Promote best practice at all levels of the organisation.
  • Investigate system failures and provide root cause analysis.
  • Initiate and take ownership of business improvement projects.
  • Maintain, and run, the company product related Risk Register, identifying practical solutions to identified risks.
  • Support the identification, and management of key performance indicators across the business.
  • Plan and conduct audits for all business processes, with particular attention to the Quality, H&S and Environmental management systems.
  • Make appropriate recommendations for business improvement – both reactive and proactive.
  • Investigate any non-conformances and report relevant findings.
  • Attending industry forums where required.
