Beyond The Basics – 8 Day Course

The 8 days include live demonstrations alongside intensive one-to-one practical sessions, giving you real experience you can take straight back to the barbershop or salon. You’ll
develop essential barbering techniques including layering, graduation, clipper-overcomb, and precise hairline work — the core skills every successful barber needs. These
techniques form a strong foundation, helping you build confidence, refine your style, and deliver consistently professional results. This comprehensive course focuses on developing the fundamental skills required for entry-level barbering. Students will gain practical experience and a solid understanding of key techniques, including:

• Clipper-over-comb
• Sectioning
• Layering
• Basic fade techniques
• Product knowledge
• Understanding and proper use of tools
• Hair structure and fundamentals

Upon completion, students will have a clear understanding of the core principles and essential techniques of barbering. This foundation will provide the confidence needed
to progress further in their professional careers and deliver modern barbering services with precision and professionalism.

8 Day Intensive Hands-On Course

Tuesdays & Wednesdays Over 4 Weeks = 40 Hours Of Total Hands-On Training

Day 1 – Introduction To Barbering

• Introduction to the barbering industry
• Health, safety, and hygiene
• Product knowledge (clippers, trimmers, scissors, razors)
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment
• Basic client consultation skills

Day 2 – Basic Cutting Techniques

• Live demo
• Sectioning
• Scissor-over-comb technique
• Clipper-over-comb technique
• Basic short back and sides haircut
• Practicing on mannequin heads

Day 3– Classic Barber Haircuts 

• Crew cut
• Buzz cut
• Taper haircut
• Introduction to undercuts and longer styles
• Practice on mannequins

Day 4 – Fading Basics 

• Understanding fade levels (low, mid, high)
• Blending techniques
• Using guards and lever control
• Creating a basic fade
• Practice on mannequins

Day 5 – Skin Fades

• Skin/bald fade techniques
• Using trimmers and foil shavers
• Blending the fade smoothly
• Detailing and finishing
• Practice cuts

Day 6 – Beard Grooming & Shaving

• Beard trimming techniques
• Beard shaping and fading
• Hot towel shave
• Razor handling and safety
• Facial hair styling

Day 7 – Styling & Client Service

• Blow drying and styling hair
• Using styling products
• Hair types and growth patterns
• Customer service and communication
• Building regular clients

Day 8 – Live Models & Business Skills 

• Full haircuts
• Timing and working like a real barbershop
• Finishing and detailing cuts
• Social media for barbers
• Basic business skills and course review

It’s located at Wahl HQ, so you get to learn at the place where it all happens!

All the equipment required for training is provided.

Our courses are suitable for Barbers & Hairdressers of all levels.
